The heat index is what I care about lately. How hot does it feel? How much more heat can we stand?

The temperature, humidity and lack of a cool breeze have made it feel like over 100 degrees for almost 3 months straight now. We still have all of August and most of September as our summer. Ugh!

We sure could use a couple of weeks of cooler temperatures.

Over the last few years the furniture in my home has become very out dated and stale, to help remedy this situation I had begun looking for some Modern Furniture to replace my old stuff. Today was our trash pick up day and we had a lot of trash bags filled with leaves and sticks from the last storm out at the curb. The trash had been out at the curb for 3 weeks and last week they picked up about half of it. I was very pleased when I left for work this morning that they had finally picked up the rest of the trash bags. Of course after 3 weeks they had killed the grass under them and it was a ugly mess of stuff that they did not pick up, sticks and paper but I can fix that, I am just very glad that the trash is now gone.

I have always had a healthy respect for summer storms, ever since when I was a little girl we were whisked away to my grand parents storm cellar to ride out a twister. Ever since I have been fascinated by weather to the point of obsessing during storm warnings. The safety of family and pets is very important to me and I would never live in a house with out a basement for this reason. So we are remodeling our basement with a storm shelter stocked with food and water to ride out storms, I hope we never have to use it.
