Comics

As a kid, one of the best things about Sunday was getting the Sunday newspaper and pulling out the comics section. On Sundays the comics were printed in color! And most of them were 3 or 4 times as long as the ones in the daily newspaper.

My favorite comics included Peanuts and Garfield. How interesting that my favorites are about a dog and a cat? I just realized that!

More Snow

It snowed again last night. We at least 3 or 4 inches on the ground, with the prediction for more today. This is a lot of snow for us. Poor Dottie does not like to get her feet wet, so wet AND cold is a definite issue with her.

Thunder

When we get a summer thunderstorm my little dog Diva has a very hard time with the thunder part of the storm. She runs and hides downstairs or under the bed which ever one is easiest for her to get to. I know a lot of people who feel the same way about thunder and lightning, is it the most feared thing in nature next to spiders? Well we had a very bad storm last night and Diva has not reappeared after the thunder was over I may have to go look for her very soon. I know she will be glad that the storm is over.

A Peek at New Ideas

Posted by Abby - December 9th, 2008

There are a couple dozen web sites and blogs that I hop around and read. This is more enjoyable to me than reading a newspaper, which is usually about doom and gloom. The blogs that I read are uplifting and inspiring although often in a technical way. But I enjoy reading the thought processes and new ideas that the writers present or discuss.

For example, the blog about Flash Streamworks might sound too technical to enjoy reading on a casual basis. But take a look at their entry about a puppy cam. Now that’s inspiring to me. Imagine including this type of video link in a Craigslist ad for the puppies you want to sell. Or if you are a puppy breeder or even a shelter, including a live puppy can on your website would surely attract new homes for the puppies.

These are the kinds of ideas that get me excited about computers and technology!

Moles

Posted by Abby - September 3rd, 2008

We have had a problem with moles in our front yard all summer and the yard looks like a mole play ground. We have put out bait and mole traps to no avail.

The best defense against the moles has been our little dog, Diva. She has caught 8 moles so far this summer. She is a damn good hunter and has tracked the moles to their dens and caught them. Of course, she leaves the mangled corpse for me to clean up, but then, what is a dog’s human for? Clean up after them, and keep them fed and petted.

We love our dogs and Diva is our baby for sure.
