Comics

As a kid, one of the best things about Sunday was getting the Sunday newspaper and pulling out the comics section. On Sundays the comics were printed in color! And most of them were 3 or 4 times as long as the ones in the daily newspaper.

My favorite comics included Peanuts and Garfield. How interesting that my favorites are about a dog and a cat? I just realized that!

Fresh Fish

Posted by Abby - July 12th, 2010

With the problems in the Gulf of Mexico and the big oil spill, I am worried that buying fresh fish at the market is going to become a problem here. I asked the seafood and deli clerk at Publix if they are having any trouble getting the fish and she said that they are fine, no trouble yet. Thanks good to hear, but I worry  about the winter and spring as the full effects become more evident.

Good Bye Vern

Country legend Vern Gosdin passed away this week, his was a voice that if you heard it once you never forgot it again. He had a major stroke a couple of days ago and passes away  yesterday.  The world of country music will be one singer short now. I loved his music and had always wanted to see him sing in concert but by the time I had moved to Nashville he was not doing concetrs as much so i missed out on seeing one of the true legends of country music.

Earthquake

Today a big earthquake hit a place that you almost never hear about earthquakes, Italy almost never get hit with earthquakes. The last report I saw had 91 people killed and over 1500 hurt, the most hurt in a quake in Italy in over 30 years. Lets hope the rest of the missing folks are found alive and unhurt and keep the good people of Italy in your thoughts and prayers today.

Nonsense

Posted by Abby - January 5th, 2009

The news reports have about driven me crazy with the nonsense they put out there. The worst part is that they expect us to believe every piece of crap they report on. The real news you have to search for to even find out what is going on. After getting a drop of a good real story you never hear another word on them I guess they do not want us to be upset by the real news. Take for example the story of the Transit cop shooting an unarmed man in the back in Oakland California, here in Nashville we never heard word one of this important story, nothing on the internet either. The only way we found out was my spouse reads the Bay area papers on the internet and read it there or we would not of known anything about it at all. Give us the real news and keep the fluff pieces in your pocket.
